Smaxone was formed in the late fall of 2003
between long-time friends Casper Skafte, Claus Lillelund
and Brian "Brylle" Rasmussen. Skafte and Claus
Played together in Danish Rockband Elopa but due to
different interests the band parted ways and Skafte
formed Smaxone and asked Brian of Danish metalband Mnemic
to join on drums and Claus to do the vocals.
It didn´t take long before 4 members, Michael
Bøgballe - frontman of Danish metalband Mnemic,
joined forces with the band adding variation and a more
heavy aspect to the music with his hard and extreme
vocallines!
All tracks are written and arranged by Skafte but with
Brian, Michael and Claus´s original and open approach
towards the music it went up several levels!! So with
the writing and recording of their debut album "Regression"
Smaxone went from being a studio projekt to a genetic
metalband with great personallity and expression!!
The basic idea of Smaxone is to keep the music as personal
and original as possible - without being pretentious
- both musically and productional. The clean and unique
voice of Claus mixed with the screaming of Michael creates
a varied and extremely interesting sound to Smaxone.
This is also the reason to why you will hear severel
styles mixed on their debut record - from hard grinding
metalriffs to the more atmospheric rock-ballad approach.
Modern elements as electronic samples, breakbeats and
synthesizers are used widely and this mix of the electronic
world and the classical powermetal world gives a new
sound without being the new "Linkin Park"
or another mainstream act in any way! This is something
new! This is Smaxone!
Strong songs with catchy refrains are the foundation
of the songwriting in Smaxone and the only way you can
describe the band further is by experiencing their debut
album or live on the road and decide for yourself!!
